The role of civil society organizations (CSO) in disaster management is crucial at national and sub-national levels. CSOs play a significant role before, during and after disasters. The role and contribution of CSOs in disaster management was discussed at national level with the representatives of local non-governmental organisations (LNGOs) island wide, during the first phase of the Sri Lanka Preparedness Partnership (SLPP). It has been identified that, the support extended by LNGOs especially at sub national level helps to reduce the burden of the Disaster Management Centre during disaster situations. Therefore, there is a vital need for collaboration among the LNGOs for better coordination and effective contribution, when assisting in managing disaster situations.
With the intention of creating an effective and collaborative network of LNGOs, an event was held on 17th June 2022, organized by the Asian Preparedness Partnership (APP) together with Janathakshan Gte. Ltd. to launch the “Sri Lanka Civil Society Action Network for Community Resilience”.
Against the prevailing circumstances in Sri Lanka, the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management Bangladesh (A-PAD Bangladesh) stepped forward in generously contributing towards the upliftment of the health sector amidst challenging times.
A-PAD Bangladesh provided significant means for the procurement of pediatric oncology priorities, with special consideration for the health and safety of the children of Sri Lanka. This gesture of goodwill was facilitated by the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) in consultation with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, while A-PAD Sri Lanka lead the coordination process.
දෛනික ජීවිතයේ දී සමෘද්‍රීය පරිසර පද්ධතිය ආරක්ෂා කිරීම වෙනුවෙන් සැම කෙනෙකුගේම වගකීමක් සහ ඒ සදහා සෑම කෙකෙනෙත්ම ක්‍රියාකල යුතු ප්‍රධාන භූමිකාවන් පිළිබද අවධානය යොමු කරනමින් “සාගර පුනර්ජීවනය සඳහා සාමුහිකවනැගී සිටිමු"යන තේමාව මුල්කරගනිමින් මෙවර ලෝක සාගර දින සැමරුම පසුගිය දා පැවැත්විණී.
මෙවර ලෝක සාගර දින සැමරුම වෙනුවෙන් සමුද්‍රීය ආපදාවන් අවම කිරීම සහඑවැනිආපදාවකදී සාමූහිකව කටයුතු කිරීම වැදගත් කම යන තේමාව ඔස්සේ විශේෂ දේශනයක් සදහා ආපදා කළමනාකරණ මධ්‍යස්ථානයෙ අධ්‍යක්ෂ ජෙනරාල් විශ්‍රාමික මේජර් ජෙනරාල් සුදන්ත රණසිංහ මහතා සහභාගී විය.
තිරසාර සංවර්ධනයක් උපාය මාර්ග තුළින් "සුපිරිසුදු වෙරළ තීරයක් සමගින් සෞඛ්‍ය සම්පන්න සාගරයක්" අනාගත පරපුරට දායාද කිරීම, තිරසර සාගරික සම්පත් පරිහරණයේ දී සාමුහික වගකීම, සමුද්‍රීය ආපදාවන් අවම කිරීම සහඑවැනිආපදාවක දී සාමූහිකව කටයුතු කිරීම පිළිබද විද්වත් සාකච්ඡාවක් මීට සමගාමීව සංවිධානය කර තිබිණි.
Periodical review and update of the existing National Emergency Operations Plan (NEOP) has been highlighted as a mandatory requirement for the efficient and effective management of emergencies. Hence, workshop on reviewing and updating of the National Emergency Operation Plan (NEOP 2023-2028) which was held on 10th June 2022 at the Disaster Management Centre.
ආපදා කළමනාකරණ ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ නියැලෙන රාජ්‍ය නිළධාරීන්ගේ ධාරිතාව වර්ධනය කිරීම සදහා ලෝක ආහාර සංවිධානයේ මුල්‍ය දායකත්වය යටතේ සිව් දින නේවාසික පුහුණු වැඩසටහන් මාලාවක් ආපදා කළමනාකරණ මධ්‍යස්ථානය විසින් සංවිධානයකර ශ්‍රී ලංකා සංවර්ධන පරිපාලන ආයතනය ක්‍රියාත්මක කරනු ලබයි. මෙම වැඩසටහන් මාලාවේ තෙවන වැඩසටහන ජූනි මස 7-10 දින දක්වා ශ්‍රී ලංකා සංවර්ධන පරිපාලන ආයතනයේ (SLIDA) දී පැවැත් වේ.
ආපදා අවදානම් කළමනාකරණ සංකල්ප, ආපදා කළමනාකරණය පිළිබද නෛතික සහ ආයතනික රාමුව, ආපදා පෙරසුදානම් සැළසුම් සකස්කිරීම, ආයතනික ආපදා කළමනාකරණ සැළසුම් සකස් කිරීම, අන්තර් ජාතික මානුෂීය ආධාර, කාලගුණික හා දේශගුණික වෙනස්කම් හේතුවෙන් ඇතිවිය හැකි ආපදා සහ එහි බලපෑම, ගංවතුර ආපදා කළමනාකරණය, නායයෑම් ආපදා අවදානම් කළමනාකරණය, භූකම්පන අවදානම් කළමනාකරණ, ජාතික මට්ටමේ සිට ග්‍රාමීය මට්ටම දක්වා ආපදා සහන සේවා ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමේ ක්‍රියාවලිය, ප්‍රජා මුලික ආපදා කළමනාකරණ ක්‍රියාවලිය, හදිසි ආපදා තත්වයක දී මහජන සෞඛ්‍ය පවත්වාගෙන යාම සහ ඒ සදහා පවතින ජාත්‍යන්තර ප්‍රමිති ආදී විෂය ක්ෂේත්‍ර ගණනාවක් මෙම පුහුණු වැඩසටහන තුළින් ආවරණය කෙරේ.
