A high wind incidence was reported on 2009-05-25 around 04.00 a.m. This has
partially damaged 22 houses, home garden crops (Banana, Chilli, Beans, Tomato,
Papaw cultivations etc) in Karagasthalawa and Thiththamaluwa GN Divisions in
Imbulpe DS Division. Karagasthalawa Vidyalaya in Imbulpe DS division recorded
minor damages. Considering the unstable large trees around the school buildings
and the possibility of children getting injured due to the fall of roof tiles
and in consultation with Divisional Secretary Principal closed school in these
two divisions.
Roof of the Cultural Buddhist Centre, Pambahinna and Thumbatenna
Temple was partially damaged. There are no damages to people.
DDMCU, DS- Imbulpe, Social Service Officer, GN Officers participated
in site visits and support coordination of relief work.
