පුත්තලම නගර සීමාව ඉතා සුළු වර්ෂාවක දී වුව ද ජල ගැලීම් ආපදා තත්ත්වයට ලක් වේ. පසුගිය මැයි මස 24 දින ඇති වූ වර්ෂාවත් සමඟ නගරයේ බොහෝ ප්‍රදේශ වල ක්ෂණික ගංවතුර තත්වයක් වාර්තා වු අතර පාසල්, නිවාස, ව්‍යාපාරික ස්ථාන සහ අනෙකුත් සමාජ ආර්ථික යටිතල පහසුකම් ජලයෙන් යට විය. මෙම කාල සීමාවතුල අධ්‍යාපන පොදු සහතික පත්‍ර සාමාන්‍ය පෙළ විභාගය පැවැත්වූ අතර සිසු දරුවන්ගේ විභාග කටයුතු වලට ද ඉන් බාධා එල්ල විය.
Under the Colombo Security Conclave a meeting on conducting Program related to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) was held at Disaster Management Centre on 23rd June 2022. Director General Disaster Management Centre Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe chaired the meeting and representatives from Sri Lanka Navy, Marine Environment Protection Authority, Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Ministry of Environment, Sri Lanka Port Authority, Costal Conservation and Costal Resource Management Department participated
අන්තර්ජාතික සෙවීම් මුදවාගැනීමේ උපදේශක කණ්ඩායම් (INSARAG) ප්‍රමිතීන්ට අදාල වන අකාරයට ආපදා කළමනාකරණ ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ නියැලෙන නිළධාරීන්ගේ ධාරිතාව වර්ධනය කිරීම සදහා ලෝක සෞඛ්‍ය සංවිධානයේ මුල්‍ය දායකත්වය යටතේ නේවාසික පුහුණු වැඩසටහන් මාලාවක් ආපදා කළමනාකරණ මධ්‍යස්ථානය විසින් සංවිධානය කර ඇත. මෙම වැඩසටහන යටතේ පවත්වන පළමු පුහුණු වැඩසටහන කොළඹ ගිණි නිවීම් සේවා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව, ගඟේ වාඩිය නාවික හමුදා ආපදා ප්‍රතිචාර දැක්වීමේ පුහුණු පාසල හා ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද්ධ හමුදා ආපදා ප්‍රතිචාර පුහුණු මධ්‍යස්ථානය සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකා විශේෂ කාර්යය බලකා මූලස්ථානය යන පුහුණු පාසල් ආශ්‍රිතව මේ දින වල පැවැත්වේ. මෙහි සමාරම්භක උත්සවය ආපදා කළමකාකරණ මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ අධ්‍යක්ෂ ජෙනරාල්ගේ විශ්‍රාමික මේජර් ජෙනරාල් සුදන්ත රණසිංහ සහ ලෝක සෞඛ්‍ය සංවිධානයේ වැඩසටහන් නිළධාරී වෛද්‍ය සපුමල් ධනපාල මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් ගිණි නිවීමේ දෙපාර්තමේන්තු පරිශ්‍රයේ දී අද දින (20) පැවැත්වුණු අතර අන්තර්ජාතික සෙවීම් මුදවාගැනීමේ උපදේශක කණ්ඩායම් (INSARAG) ආසියා ශාන්තිකර කලාපීය සම්බන්ධීකාරක හරුකා එසාකි (Haruka Esaki) මහත්මිය මාර්ග ගත ක්‍රමවේදය මගින් මෙම අවස්ථාවට සම්බන්ධ විය.
An educational programme on Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Management was held at the Disaster Management Center on 20th June 2022 for the students from the University of Lincoln University in the United Kingdom.
Students attended theoretical and practical demonstrations on disaster management mechanisms, emergency management & early warning system and emergency operation coordination process in the Country.
The role of civil society organizations (CSO) in disaster management is crucial at national and sub-national levels. CSOs play a significant role before, during and after disasters. The role and contribution of CSOs in disaster management was discussed at national level with the representatives of local non-governmental organisations (LNGOs) island wide, during the first phase of the Sri Lanka Preparedness Partnership (SLPP). It has been identified that, the support extended by LNGOs especially at sub national level helps to reduce the burden of the Disaster Management Centre during disaster situations. Therefore, there is a vital need for collaboration among the LNGOs for better coordination and effective contribution, when assisting in managing disaster situations.
With the intention of creating an effective and collaborative network of LNGOs, an event was held on 17th June 2022, organized by the Asian Preparedness Partnership (APP) together with Janathakshan Gte. Ltd. to launch the “Sri Lanka Civil Society Action Network for Community Resilience”.
