Against the prevailing circumstances in Sri Lanka, the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management Bangladesh (A-PAD Bangladesh) stepped forward in generously contributing towards the upliftment of the health sector amidst challenging times.

A-PAD Bangladesh provided significant means for the procurement of pediatric oncology priorities, with special consideration for the health and safety of the children of Sri Lanka. This gesture of goodwill was facilitated by the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) in consultation with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, while A-PAD Sri Lanka lead the coordination process.

The handover of essential medicines took place at the A-PAD Office in Colombo. In view of this occasion, representatives from A-PAD Bangladesh visited the country to handover the medicine to Maj. Gen. Sudantha Ranasinghe - Director General, DMC and Mr. Palitha Wickramage from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat for subsequent handover to the Ministry of Health. Mr. Firzan Hashim - Country Director, A-PAD SL was present at the occasion.

During the discussion that followed, Maj. Gen. Ranasinghe as well as Mr. Wickramage expressed their sincere gratitude to A-PAD Bangladesh for such timely assistance as well as consideration for the wellbeing of our children.

The DMC has maintained strengthened ties with the A-PAD network through the years and is grateful to the organization for its continual support towards complementing national efforts during critical times.
