Residential consultative workshop on Developing a Humanitarian Standards 2022 1

Under the guidance and advice of Major General Sudantha Ransinghe (Retd.), Director General of the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), a two day residential consultative workshop was held on 17th & 18th of February 2022 at Hotel Laya Leisure – Kukuleganga, to develop a suitable framework and appropriate humanitarian standards, for safety centers in Sri Lanka.

The key objective of the project organized by the Disaster Management Centre under the patronage of the Sri Lanka Preparedness Partnership (SLPP), is to develop humanitarian standards appropriate for safety centres from a Sri Lankan context and identify criteria which could be practically implemented at ground level. Mr. R.P. Samarakkody, Additional Director General of the Disaster Management Centre, welcomed all participants representing the DMC, National Disaster Relief Services Centre (NDRSC), key UN organizations, other INGOs, NGOs and related key government institutions involved in managing safety centers.
