HSBC/APAD Sri Lanka join hands with Disaster Management Centre to combat with COVID
Today (4th), the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has received several Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) from HSBC Sri Lanka in partnership with A-PAD Sri Lanka, for the use by frontline personnel, engaged in containing the COVID-19 outbreak. The donation includes with coverall dresses along with face and boot covers and face masks, which is a great need for the ongoing operation.
The event has ensued at the Disaster Management Centre premises with the presence of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe- the Director General of DMC and Mr Mark Prothero - the CEO of HSBC for Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Mr Firzan Hashim - Country Director of A-PAD Sri Lanka and senior officials of DMC were also presented at the occasion. The Director General expressed his gratitude to HSBC and A-PAD for the generous assistance which will enable the protection of frontline personnel involved in responding to disasters during the COVID-19 outbreak. The Director General further stated that, this kind of equipment is very important for us and will be used during the forthcoming southwest monsoon season.
Mr Mark Prothero commended the Government's efforts to control the COVID-19 outbreak to the current level, which is exemplary for the other countries, whereby Sri Lanka is ranked amongst the best countries which fights against the virus. Mr. Prothero further noted, this is a token contribution to the mammoth work carried out by the government of Sri Lanka and glad to take a part with DMC for the preparation for the upcoming monsoon season.
