Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) to the Private Sector for Sustainable Development workshop was held at the Bandaranayake Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on 06th September 2018 and the workshop headed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources & Disaster Management and the Director General of the Disaster Management Center, 60 officials participated from the leading private companies (including national and multinational).

The Disaster Management Center under the guidance of Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources & Disaster Management is in the process of introducing mechanism to mainstream DRR measures into private sector following the Sendai framework for Disaster Risk reduction Priorities.

The main objective of this workshop was to mainstream DRR into development decision making and build resilient infrastructure, businesses and communities under the priority areas of Risk Identification, Risk Governance, Risk Sensitive Investment and preparedness for reducing risks
