Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has taken initiatives to implement the project “Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction through Establishing Local Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Plans based on River Basin Strategy in Sri Lanka” piloting in Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara districts under the technical cooperation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Under the Project, Training Programme on Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction for Local Authorities and DS Division in Kelani River Basin Strategy in Sri Lanka was hold at BMICH on April 29 th and 30 th,2024 for Local Authorities and DS Division in Kelani River Basin.
The main objective of this training program is to enhance the knowledge of local level officers regarding DRR, to understand the roles and responsibility of LA and DS Division to mainstream DRR at their jurisdiction area and to promote the local administrative development mechanism in Local Authorities and DS Divisions, establishing a system to integrate DRR into development projects at local levels.
